This course will introduce you to one of the most popular forms of ancient healing which is aromatherapy. It will take you through the timeline of how this alternative healing modality came to be, from its beginnings in Egypt to its modern application as a complementary and alternative therapy. It will also familiarise you with with its definition, concepts, principles and practices. Additionally, you will learn about essential oils which serve as the primary ‘tool’ for the administration of aromatherapy. You will learn their varied modes of application, process of production and blending, and safety considerations. Important topics like aromatherapy and massage, therapeutic home and garden, and aromatherapy for people with special needs will also be covered in some modules of the course.
The course is designed to help you develop the knowledge and competencies that will let you: (a) know the origin and essence of aromatherapy; (b) identify different essential oils and the processes involved in their production and blending; (c) recognise safe and proper practices for administering essential oils to facilitate healing and wellness; and (d) address varied maladies using different aromatherapy techniques.
